Hyperliquid Weekly Data Report — Week of August 24–30, 2026

Revised Sep 14, 2026: every figure below was re-verified against primary sources (Hyperliquid API, DefiLlama); historical figures that no public API provides are printed as unavailable rather than estimated.

Every metric below was fetched from a public API — the Hyperliquid official endpoint and DefiLlama — and the fetch is archived with a timestamp. This report prints only what a public source can verify. The week in one line: HYPE closed $79.99, −2.9%, after printing a fresh all-time high at $86.73 and absorbing the largest unlock in the protocol's history; fees cooled to $21.2M and TVL rose counter-cyclically to $6.43B.

The four-week chain

WeekCloseHighLowFees (7d)TVL L1 (close)
Aug 3–9$53.83$57.96$51.88$9.4M$5.62B
Aug 10–16$57.10$58.50$53.74$8.0M$5.58B
Aug 17–23$82.37$83.46$57.02$24.6M$6.16B
Aug 24–30$79.99$86.73$76.59$21.2M$6.43B

The shape: the +44% breakout week, then a consolidation week that printed a higher high ($86.73 vs $83.46), held the unlock without a rout, and closed −2.9% — while the fee series decayed gently (−13.8%) instead of collapsing, and TVL made its monthly high at $6.43B. August month-to-date at the close: +52.3% ($52.51 → $79.99).

Inside the week: the daily path

DateCloseΔProtocol fees (day)
Mon Aug 24$79.01−4.1%$4.22M
Tue Aug 25$79.65+0.8%$4.30M
Wed Aug 26$82.28+3.3%$2.93M
Thu Aug 27$84.64+2.9%$3.56M
Fri Aug 28$80.94−4.4%$3.26M
Sat Aug 29$83.38+3.0%$0.96M
Sun Aug 30$79.99−4.1%$1.99M

One structural note on the daily pattern: the Monday −4.1% was a hangover from the squeeze week's $82.37 close; the mid-week grind to the $86.73 record came on falling fees ($2.93M on the AQAv2 day); and the Friday −4.4% de-risk on elevated fees ($3.26M) was classic pre-event positioning. Unlock day itself (+3.0%) printed the week's lowest fee day — $0.96M, a Saturday — absorption without churn.

Valuation arithmetic (not a forecast)

What can be computed honestly from this week: the fee run-rate annualizes to ~$1.10B/yr, and buyback capacity — on third-party estimates that roughly 99% of protocol revenue routes to the Assistance Fund — is ~$21.0M for the week, plus the new AQAv2 stream (~90% of USDC reserve yield), whose first hard payment lands Oct 3. What cannot: a same-week price-to-revenue multiple — the historical circulating-supply series that a historical market cap requires is not publicly available. At the current snapshot (re-verified Sep 14) the ratio is ~26x on trailing inputs; see the Sep 7–13 report.

Watching next week

  • The Sep 6 unlock: 9.92M HYPE (~$820M) — the second scheduled release inside nine days. Two absorptions in a fortnight would be a real supply-demand data point, not an anecdote.
  • The $86.73 record: a second retest after the unlock digest tells you whether the mid-week record was a pause or a ceiling.
  • The fee floor: $21.2M held well above the $8–9M pre-spike baseline. A third week above ~$16M starts to look like a new baseline; a fall through it closes the spike chapter.
  • TVL direction: $6.43B is the monthly high. New highs in a flat price week would be the strongest quiet-bull signal the API can print.

Frequently asked questions

Why are some metrics marked "not verifiable" instead of estimated?

Because an estimate without a source is just a number. Open-interest history, funding history, staking totals and address counts matter, but no public API publishes them as time series. Rather than print plausible-looking values, this report leaves them blank and names them.

Which sources does this report use?

Two public APIs: the Hyperliquid official info endpoint (prices, candles) and DefiLlama (fees, TVL). Scheduled-release and institutional figures come from dated news reports (AInvest, MoneyCheck, ETHNews, CoinMarketCap, CoinCentral), attributed inline and graded Partial in the table.

How is the $86.73 record reconciled with the reported $86.71?

They are the same print measured on different clocks: $86.73 is the Aug 27 daily candle high on Hyperliquid's UTC candles; $86.71 is the number in news reports filed across Aug 27–28 sessions. Both are correct on their own timeframes; this report uses the candle series for consistency.

Is a −2.9% unlock week a victory?

Framed by history, yes: May's comparable release preceded −14.1% and July's −7%. Framed by levels, it is a consolidation that closed below both the record and the prior weekly close. Both frames are honest; the data supports the first and describes the second.

Is this financial advice?

No. This is data analysis for informational purposes. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold HYPE or any other asset.
